Wooden side tables
There is so much to choose from in our side tables category as there is probably no taste or preference left out. A small table fits in almost every room and can be used in many ways. Almost all side tables on display here are made of burl or acacia (suar).
Like many of our other pieces of furniture, the side tables are hand-crafted and decorated with the most beautiful and detailed hand carvings. These tables are perfect for the living room when more guests than intended come in the door. Such tables are set up quickly and provide a good way to set down glasses or finger food. No one has to keep his plate on his lap and hope not to pour himself.
Once the guests have left, the order table can be decorated with a flower pot or an ornament from our range.
With our side tables, we invite our customers to immerse themselves in the world of Asian furniture manufacturing.
Where do our little tables come from?
Before you can beautify your home with our products, they have already a long journey behind them. Our items are Thai furniture or Indonesian furniture. The wood we draw from here is particularly impressive because of its grain. But not only that. Asian acacia and burl wood have excellent shapes, which are ideal for hand carving. In addition, this wood is still extremely durable and durable. With good care, you can enjoy our small tables over many years.
Carvings
As already mentioned, all our products are hand-carved. This means that no table is the same as the other. Surface, pattern and color can be very different. Whether you visit us in the store or in our online shop, you will be surprised by the variety of our products.
A word about the wood used
Root Wood
Strictly speaking, burl wood is a waste material. Worldwide, except for some countries, only the trunk of the felled tree is used, while everything under the ground is burned.
In most cases, it's just too hard to handle the massive root system of a tree.
However, with the wood from Indonesia it is an exception. If a tree is felled, the roots are excavated in painstaking detail, removed and prepared for further processing. Not only can this process process almost the entire tree, each uprooted tree makes room for reforestation.
However, on the island of Java, in Indonesia, it is the farmers who "harvest" root wood and bring it to our partner factory in Surakarta, where our gifted wood designers turn the local root system into stunning pieces of furniture.
Acacia
Acacia is one of the trees that are represented almost everywhere in the world. They are rich in color, shape and grain. They belong to the mimosa family and come in many different genera.
The acacia wood used by us comes from the Thai area, where the tree is called among other rain tree or monkey tree.
The advantage of the acacia is that the tree grows very fast and grows up to 40 m. As above, so below. The impressive monkey tree has an equally impressive root system from which we make many of our best products.
